Cathy R. Sheffield Appointed Chief Advancement Officer

Lena Pope, a nonprofit organization with a 90-year history of improving the lives of Tarrant County children, has appointed Cathy R. Sheffield as its new Chief Advancement Officer.

In this role, Sheffield will be responsible for executing comprehensive and diversified fundraising and marketing strategies to ensure Lena Pope has the resources needed to continue supporting child development and improving the behavioral and mental health of local children far into the future. 

“Cathy has a demonstrated track record in helping nonprofits grow and raise essential resources to fulfill their missions, while possessing vast experience working with philanthropists in the Fort Worth community,” said Ashley Elgin, Ph.D., chief executive officer at Lena Pope. “She will no-doubt take Lena Pope’s advancement efforts to a higher level, and play a major role in guiding our organization moving forward and ensuring long-term growth.”

Prior to her appointment at Lena Pope, Sheffield founded and served as president of ThinkGiving, a Fort Worth-based planned giving consulting firm. She also served as vice president at Thompson & Associates, a values-based estate planning firm based in Nashville. In addition, Sheffield has held various development positions for organizations such as Baylor Scott & White All Saints Health Foundation, Texas Health Resources Foundation, Cook Children’s Health Foundation, and Texas Christian University.

Sheffield received an MBA from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University, and currently serves on the board of directors for the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA). She is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®), Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG), and a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning (FCEP).
