Our Vision: Meaningful Relationships

As we navigate through the rhythms of life, we’re reminded of growth, renewal, and the profound significance of the connections that enrich our lives.

These connections play a crucial role in shaping lives, fostering well-being, and creating a sense of home. We all need to be open to growth and tend to our relationships to ensure they are healthy.

That’s why Lily’s* story is a great example of the growth and renewal we want to see throughout our community.

Before you read about Lily’s story, it’s important to know a bit about why meaningful relationships are so important to Lena Pope and how supporters in our community are a vital part of the picture.

Lena Pope’s vision for our community is that children, families, and caregivers thrive; acting with confidence rooted in: meaningful relationships, emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, and strategic problem solving. We believe that these four pieces of our vision are the cornerstones of the strong foundation we hope to work together to build for our community.

Meaningful relationships are the first piece of that foundation and are at the core of everything we do at Lena Pope. When you engage with others in the world around you, you have the opportunity to connect meaningfully in their lives. Relationships have a profound impact on the well-being of individuals, families, and our community.

We are committed to integrating meaningful relationships into every facet of our work. From our staffing structures and educational programs to our counseling services, we strive to nurture connections that extend beyond the ordinary, creating environments where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

Our teachers, counselors, and staff go the extra mile to form and model healthy relationships through bonds that last a lifetime. It’s these one-on-one connections, the small gestures of support, and the genuine interest in each individual that define Lena Pope’s unique approach.

Because of these relationships our staff build with our clients, it’s not uncommon for the students and families completing one of our programs to reach out long after they’ve graduated.

Families like Lily’s.

Her mother was at her wit’s end. Lily was acting out, skipping school, and in trouble with the legal system. Nothing seemed to work. Ultimately Lily and her family were referred to Lena Pope’s Functional Family Therapy program (FFT).

It didn’t happen overnight, but things began to change. Thanks to their commitment to the FFT program, and with the help of their dedicated team at Lena Pope, Lily and her mom were finally able to listen to each other and have meaningful conversations. Their relationship dramatically improved.

Lily started going to school and stopped acting out. Several months after Lily graduated from the program, her mom called Lily’s therapist with a special invitation. Lily was being honored at an awards ceremony by her parole officer as the student who was most improved overall!

Lily’s mom shared that Lily’s improvements were a result of her involvement with the FFT program and her therapist at Lena Pope.

Her therapist went above and beyond to celebrate Lily’s achievements, which is not uncommon on the Lena Pope team. We know meaningful relationships are a vital part of creating lasting change.

Each day we remain dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships — not only with the young children, families, and caregivers we serve every day — but also with our amazing supporters.

The commitment to our mission from those who support us is integral to the impact we make, and we deeply cherish and appreciate these relationships with Lena Pope.

When someone supports Lena Pope, they become an essential part of our journey to create a community where meaningful relationships flourish and contribute to the well-being of all.
