Shnease Webb, Chief Operating Officer, celebrates 50 years of service at Lena Pope. Lena Pope is a nonprofit with a 93-year history of improving the lives of children and families.
Lena Pope holds an annual staff tenure celebration to honor the dedication of the agency’s staff. This year, Lena Pope celebrated 23 staff with five years of service, three staff with 10 years, three staff with 15 years, and, of course, Shnease with 50 years of service. “I’ve always been led to serve throughout my life, and what better joy than to be able to serve children and families.” said Shnease Webb.
Shnease has been involved in every facet of Lena Pope’s programs throughout her 50-year career. Shnease started at Lena Pope as a receptionist and moved through several positions, including Social Service Coordinator, Intake Coordinator, and Directory of Quality Assurance. In 1986 she became the Associate Executive Director, and in 2005 her title changed to Chief Operating Officer. In 2008, Shnease earned her Master of Business Administration from TCU and holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Texas at Arlington. Shnease’s involvement in the Fort Worth community extends beyond Lena Pope. She has been involved with many organizations, including Leadership Fort Worth, Child Welfare League of America, Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services, and served on the Community Relations Board at Carswell Federal Hospital. Shnease has received the YWCA Women in Leadership Award and the Garcia-Lancarte Award, an award given to individuals who have gone above and beyond in service to Lena Pope.
She also has the respect of her colleagues. “There is no one like Shnease and we are so fortunate she has spent her career at Lena Pope. She is a humble leader who has helped guide Lena Pope through many changes and has been integral to growing new leaders in our organization and our community. It is difficult to adequately quantify the impact Shnease has had on Lena Pope and the Fort Worth community over the past 50 years, but we can be certain she has improved countless lives for the better.” shared Ashley Elgin, Ph.D., CEO of Lena Pope.
