Help Ensure Counseling is Available When Families Reach Out

Help ensure that counseling is available when a family reaches out — regardless of their ability to pay.

This May, during Mental Health Awareness Month, you have an opportunity to double your impact for children and families who need support right now.

Thanks to a generous group of Lena Pope Board members, your gift will be matched this month — doubling all gifts up to $20,000.

How You Can Help

A gift of $50 becomes $100 to help provide a counseling session for a child — offering guidance, connection, and support during a time when it matters most.

For nearly 100 years, Lena Pope has been a trusted resource for children and families across North Texas, providing counseling, education, and support to help them navigate life’s challenges. Each year, thousands of children and parents turn to Lena Pope for help, and in 2025 more than 24,000 counseling sessions were provided to families in our community.

At Lena Pope, counseling is available regardless of a family’s ability to pay, helping children build emotional skills, strengthening relationships at home, and creating a path forward together.

Because when support is available at the right time, it creates moments that help families move forward.

Creating Moments That Bring Families Together

Jordan and his family came to Lena Pope for family group therapy after he was placed on probation.

At first, he was distant and disengaged, often focused on his phone and unsure how to connect. His family, too, wasn’t sure what to expect.

But with consistent support, something began to change.

During one session, their therapist introduced a simple game of UNO.

What started as a small moment became something more.

As they played together, Jordan began to open up. He laughed with his parents, engaged in conversation, and experienced a sense of connection that had been missing.

Over time, those moments became something he looked forward to.

Jordan and his family worked together to build communication skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and learn new ways to navigate challenges as a unit.

And by the end of their time in counseling, it was clear how much had changed.

Jordan became emotional and asked if they could play UNO together one last time before closing out their sessions — a moment that reflected the connection they had built together.

This is what support can make possible.

Thank you for choosing to give so children and families like Jordan’s can access the counseling they need — regardless of their ability to pay.
