A note from our 2025-2026 Board President

We interviewed Marce Ward, Lena Pope’s 2025-2026 Board President about his term and what he learned.

What surprised you about being Board President?

I wouldn’t say I was surprised; I was continually impressed. Lena Pope is ambitious in its commitment to providing needed services to the community, and the effort and expertise required are truly remarkable. I credit this to the exceptional staff leadership and the dedicated volunteers who generously share their time and talent with this outstanding organization.

What are you most proud of from this past year?

I am especially proud that Lena Pope expanded its services beyond Tarrant County. The need across the broader community continues to grow, and Lena Pope is working diligently to meet that challenge.

What would you say to someone considering supporting Lena Pope?

Lena Pope provides important services to our community with a high level of professionalism. I have always been impressed by the organization’s careful use of metrics and measurements to monitor program success and support continuous improvement.

What is something Lena Pope does that you learned more about during your term as Board President?

I learned more about art therapy provided by The Art Station. When The Art Station opened their second location on Lena Pope’s campus, I learned so much, including how that expanded their reach and about what techniques they use. I am impressed by how people can work through challenges by expressing their creativity.

What did you learn about yourself during your service on the Board of Directors?

People from every walk of life can face serious challenges, and many need support along the way. My service has reinforced the importance of staying involved and reminded me that everyone has something meaningful to contribute. Participation matters.
